HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Youth Media Conference & Showcase

We invite students and teachers to attend the entire day of the Youth Media Conference & Expo. The Digital Literacy Panel is an annual event that offers a unique experience to focus in on a topic that is current and relevant to youth culture. The Behind the Scenes Expo will give students a chance to speak with industry reps, post secondary schools, and more to learn about future employment opportunities in the Film, Television, and Media Industry. We will then dive further into representation with our short film program “Passing The Bechdel-Wallace Test”. This exciting day will come to a close with our annual “Youth Filmmaker Showcase”.

Talent Lab for Secondary Schools

Students attend screenings of short or feature length films, followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker, discussant or Festival Director. A study guide is provided for each film program, and the film can be paired with a workshop (space is limited in the workshop).

Youth Filmmakers Showcase

The 9th annual Youth Filmmakers Showcase (YFS) is a curated program which brings together the best film and video made by youth in grades five to twelve from across British Columbia. YFS is an opportunity for aspiring filmmakers to screen their films in front of a live audience, and have an opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with other filmmakers and professionals.

This program screens as part of the Youth Media Conference for high school students.
